Our Vision

At St Mary’s CE Combined School, our children experience high-quality learning opportunities where every child is valued and nurtured to achieve their full academic potential. In everything we do, we are inspired by our Christian values of

Respect, Integrity, Resilience

We believe every pupil at St Mary's has an entitlement to develop their full potential. Educational experiences are provided which develop pupils' achievements and recognise their individuality. Diversity is valued as a rich resource, which supports the learning of all. In this school, we recognise a child's right to a broad, balanced, relevant and challenging curriculum, which is appropriate to their individual abilities, talents and personal qualities.

Our Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator, Mrs S.A Jarvis is responsible for ensuring that provision is made and given to children who experience difficulties in learning. Provision varies according to the needs of the individual child.  Parents are kept informed and are consulted at every stage. If we feel your child would benefit from having some form of extra support a meeting will be arranged with you, and an Individual Provision Map (IPM) will be set up to ensure your child receives focused support. The IPM sets out targets in small achievable steps and is written and reviewed by the class teacher with advice from the SENDCo. You will be kept informed of your child's progress through regular termly meetings. Teachers or teaching assistants may work on a 'one to one' or small group basis with those children who have been identified as needing extra support.

If your child does not require an IPM but requires extra support then they will receive targeted support.  You will be notified if your child is having extra support and in what areas of the curriculum this is. The provision map records the intervention, the frequency of the intervention, and the child's start and end points in order to track the impact of the intervention. A provision map is updated regularly and at the end of each academic year it is archived. This way the next teacher is aware of the interventions that each child has already received.

We liaise closely with members of the County Specialist Teaching Service, Community Paediatrics, CAMHS, Educational Psychology Service, Speech and Language service, Occupational Therapy Service, Pupil Referral Unit and colleagues from Bucks County Council.

Our SENDCO, Mrs SA Jarvis, is always happy to talk to parents about their concerns, you can contact her via the form at the bottom of this page.
